Shelter Scotland today (1 July 2010) responded to the Scottish Government's announcement of the £30 million third tranche of funding for affordable housing.
Graeme Brown, Director of Shelter Scotland, the housing and homelessness charity, said
As the Housing Need and Demand Assessment has shown for Highland, demand for homes that people can afford to live in outstrips supply.
It's not so much that as that a lot of "affordable housing" is simply bought up by cash-rich landlords for let.
ReplyDeleteLook at the "affordable flats" on the Kylauren development on Lochloy Road - now being let as "luxury/executive apartments" for local use or holiday use.
If housing is to be affordable, the landlords have to be kept out from buying it up.
